History

Wenburg Funeral Home - Arapahoe, NE

The funeral home in Arapahoe, NE was originated by Wilbur Andrews who attended mortuary school in Chicago and received his license in 1925.  He did apprentices with N. P. Swanson Funeral Home in Omaha.  For a short time, he then moved to Holdrege and worked for Nelson Funeral Home.

He moved to Arapahoe in 1929 where he worked for Hudson Hardware who handled the funeral business in Arapahoe at the time.  In 1931, Wilbur Andrews started Andrews Funeral Home.  The funeral home had two prior locations before moving to the current location which was known as the Kilpatrick house located at 901 8th Street.

In 1956, Wilbur Andrews passed away and the funeral business was purchased by Bill and Sandra Williamson.  Bill and Sandra operated the funeral home until retirement in August of 1998 when it was sold to James and Rogene Wenburg.  The Wenburgs had worked with Bill and Sandra since purchasing the funeral home in Beaver City in 1980.
