Oral L. May Kniep

Oral L. Kniep, age 94, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Beaver City Manor.  She was born June 12, 1916 at Beaver City, Nebraska to Bert & Minnie (Wolfe) Shellenbarger.

Oral was a life long resident of Furnas County, Nebraska.  She attended schools in Beaver City, Nebraska.  She married Merl B. May on March 9, 1933 at Phillipsburg, Kansas.  They farmed the May homestead north of Beaver City until 1950, then moved into Beaver City.  To this union 4 children were born, Joan, Karen, Bill and Iona Ann.

Oral join First Presbyterian Church at Beaver City, Nebraska on April 9, 1939.  She joined the Rebekah Lodge in Beaver City in 1940 and is still a member of the Rebekahs.  She was also a Charter Member of the Furnas County Genealogical Society.  Her husband Merl died on July 5, 1976.  Oral married Edwin Kniep on December 5, 1977 at North Platte, Nebraska.  They lived in Beaver City.  Edwin died on Dec 10, 1995.

Oral enjoyed art and painting, ceramics, and making dolls.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting the clothes for her doll collection.  Quilting and sewing were also her passions.  Oral moved to Beaver City Manor in November of 2007.

Oral was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two daughters; Joan in 1947,and Iona Ann in 1954.

Survivors include; Son Bill May & wife Shirley of Evergreen, Colorado

                           Daughter:  Karen Fehrenbach of Stratton, Colorado

                            Grandchildren:  2    Great-Grandchildren:  6 and one Great-Great-Grandchild.

Visitation and viewing will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, from 1 PM until 8 PM and prior to services Thursday at the Church.  Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with co-Pastors Ivan & Joyce Dean, officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska.
