Douglas R. Long, age 60, of Holbrook, Nebraska, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born May 15, 1947 at Oxford, Nebraska to Derryl R. & Fae L. (Mues) Long.

He graduated from Holbrook High School, in Holbrook, Nebraska with the Class of 1965. He went on to graduate from McCook Community College and attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Kearney State College, in Kearney, Nebraska.  He married Sandy Niemeier on January 25, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. They made their home in Holbrook, Nebraska and opened D & D Service Station in Holbrook, in October of 1971. Having run this business successfully for 36 years.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was a member of the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department, Holbrook School Board, and a softball coach.

He is preceded in death by his father.

                         Dale Long of Holbrook, Nebraska

                         Dennis & wife Janice Long of Lincoln, Nebraska

            Sister:   Rosemary & husband Kevin Johnson of Clive, Iowa

There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen.

Memorial services will be Thursday, January 31, at 2 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. David Otten, officiating. Inurnment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery, at Holbrook, Nebraska
