Arapahoe, Nebraska

Robert H. Haussler, age 82, of Cambridge, Nebraska died on September 6, 2010 at his home at the Medicine Creek Reservoir. He was born in Furnas County, Nebraska on November 7, 1927 to August and Anna (Mues) Haussler. 

He grew up on the Muddy Creek north of Arapahoe.  He married Carol Menze in the spring of 1947 and they farmed on the family farm homesteaded by his grandfather, Henry Mues.  They had three children; Michael, Steven and Merrie. They would later seperate.

On August 22, 1987, Bob married Doii (Bowen) Johnson of Norton, KS.  They enjoyed traveling and family and were involved in the Furnas County Historical Society until Doiiís death on January 27, 1997.

He had many interest but he especially loved baseball, both as a spectator and as a player in his youth.  He loved to read and had a special interest in history and he loved music and playing his guitar. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska and Holbrook Lion's Club, of Holbrook, Nebraska.

He is survived by his sons: Michael Haussler of Arapahoe, Nebraska

                                   Daughter:  Merrie Nickel of Kearney, Nebraska

 2 granddaughters Heidi Eschen and Caitlen Nickel & 3 great granddaughters, Kayleigh Dawson and Megan and Heather Eschen and by one great-great grandson, Tristan,  & long-time special friend, Joyce Hilker of Cambridge, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, August Jr., Albert, and Victor and his sisters Dorothy Fisher and Alice Hilker.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to service at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, September 10, at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Burial will be at the St. Matthews Cemetery, at rural Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
