City, Nebraska died Friday, April
13, 2007 at Harlan County Hospital
at Alma, Nebraska. She was born June 24, 1921 at Long Island, Kansas
to Joseph & Lela (Gebhard) Young.
She grew up in Long Island, Kansas
attending Freedom District #92. She
graduated from Long Island
Kansas High
School with the class of 1937. After graduation
she attended Ft Hays State
College at Hays, Kansas.
She
taught 3 years in rural schools in Phillips County, Kansas.
Then
she taught grade school at Phillipsburg, Kansas for
6 years, followed by 5 years at Colby,
Kansas. She taught 2 1/2 years
at Beaver City, Nebraska
Grade School. She married Donald
Woodruff on June 15, 1952 at Long
Island, Kansas. They
farmed in Long Island, Kansas
and Southeast of Beaver City for many years. She also was a Watkins Dealer for
a number of years. She moved to Alma
in 2000 and resided there until 2003 when she returned back to Beaver City, Nebraska.
On
June 1, 2006 she moved to Beaver City
Manor. She was active with Furnas County
Genealogical Society at Beaver City,
Nebraska.
She was a member
of First United
Methodist Church
at Beaver City, Nebraska. She also belonged to United Methodist
Women at Beaver City,
American Legion Auxiliary Post # 28 of Beaver
City, and VFW Auxiliary of Phillipsburg, Kansas.
Preceded in death by parents and sister LaVada.
Survivors
include husband Don of Beaver City, Nebraska
1 Brother; Robert Young
& wife Harriett of Long Island, Kansas
Visitation and
viewing will by Monday, April 16, 2007, 1 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday, April 17,
9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska
and prior to services Wednesday at the church.

will be Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 1:30 PM at First
United Methodist
Church in Beaver City, Nebraska
with Pastors Robert Berlie and Keith Theobald, officiating. Burial will follow at Long
Island Kansas Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver
City, Nebraska
in charge of arrangements.
